Speak American English and Enjoy Conversations!
One of the true pleasures of learning a new language is being able to engage an entirely new population of individuals in conversations. Sadly, if you only learn a little bit of the language, those conversations can be difficult and awkward and, quite frankly, not very enjoyable. Learning to speak American English is the same way. You can learn all the grammar in schools and ace all your English language tests, but if you cannot speak American English conversationally on the street or with fellow students without messing up or feeling self conscious, you haven’t truly learned to speak American English.
With the TalkTrain programs, you will learn to speak American English the way normal Americans do. See, Americans grow up and learn the grammar naturally and without much effort; because English is your second language, you are forced to learn it artificially, and as a result your English speaking skills don’t sound as natural. Now, you may never be as natural a speaker as someone how grew up learning how to speak American English as a child, but you certainly can improve on it.
One good way to improve on how you speak American English is by learning how Americans speak in conversations. They use grammar and vocabulary, sure, but you already know that, and it’s not enough. They also use what are called idioms, or conversational colloquialisms. An idiom is a phrase with a different meaning than the literal definitions of the words that make it up. These are phrases that, even if you knew the definition of every word in the phrase, you still wouldn’t understand the complete meaning. Every language has them, and if you want to speak American English the right way you’re going to have to actually learn the idioms. TalkTrain can help you with that.
